Changes in electrode pressure in mid-frequency spot welding machines will alter the contact area between the workpiece and the electrode, thereby affecting the distribution of current lines. With an increase in electrode pressure, the distribution of current lines becomes more dispersed, leading to a decrease in workpiece resistance.
What Factors Contribute to Contact Resistance (RC)?
Contact resistance (RC) forms due to several reasons:
Presence of high-resistance oxide or dirt layers on the surfaces of the workpiece and electrode, which significantly hinder the flow of current. Excessive thickness of oxides and dirt can prevent current conduction altogether.
Even in clean states, microscopic surface roughness of the workpiece results in the formation of contact points only on localized rough surfaces. This localized contact point formation leads to the convergence of current lines, increasing contact resistance due to the narrowing of the current channel.
Power Supply Unit:
The power supply unit, also known as the main power circuit, typically consists of components such as the power adjustment mechanism (multi-stage selector), main power switch, welding circuit, etc. However, in the main circuit of capacitor storage welding machines, direct current pulse welding machines, and three-phase low-frequency welding machines, there are additional components like primary rectifiers and polarity reversal switches. Inverter welding machines also include primary rectifiers, inverters, and secondary rectifier components. For secondary rectifier welding machines, secondary rectifier components are also included.
