Quality Inspection of Medium Frequency Spot Welding Machine

There are generally two methods for inspecting the quality of medium frequency spot welding machines: visual inspection and destructive testing. Visual inspection involves examining various aspects and utilizing microscope images for metallographic inspection. For this, the welded core part needs to be cut and extracted, followed by grinding and corrosion. However, drawing conclusions based solely on visual inspection is not sufficient, so destructive testing is conducted.

Destructive testing typically involves tearing tests, where the welded base material is torn open for confirmation (one side showing circular holes, the other side showing button-shaped residues). Additionally, tensile strength testing can be conducted using a tensile tester.

Quality Assurance Measures:

Although resistance spot welding is the most suitable method for mass production, improper quality management can lead to significant losses. Currently, since it is not feasible to achieve online non-linear welding quality inspection, it is necessary to strengthen quality management.

Pressure Testing: The heat generated during welding is greatly affected by the contact resistance between the electrode and the workpiece. Therefore, it is necessary to use a pressure tester to maintain pressure during welding.

Electrode Grinding: As the number of weld spots increases, the surface of the electrode wears out, and rough electrode surfaces can cause splashing, affecting the quality of the weld spots. Regular use of files for grinding or replacing electrodes is recommended.

Electrode Overheating: Overheating of electrodes not only shortens their lifespan but also leads to uneven welding quality in workpieces.
